Stop the Looting

President Bush is asking Congress to hastily approve one of the biggest spending bills ever -- 820 billion dollars. True to form, Bush and his people are cutting lots of last-minute, back-room deals, doing enormous favors for their friends at Fox and other huge corporations, at our expense.

Nobel prize-winning economist George Akerlof has described this kind of government as "a form of looting."

We believe:

" Congress must reject the giant corporate giveaways in the Omnibus Appropriations bill. It must protect overtime and reject increasingly monopolized media ownership. "
Bush is cynically betting that Congress won't have the guts to stand up to him, even on issues it's already voted on. Help prove him wrong by joining us below. We'll send your comments to your representatives in Congress at important times during our campaign.

A compiled petition with your individual comment will be presented to key leaders in Congress.

YOUR PETITION LETTER

TO: (Your Representative and Senators)
FROM: (Your Name and Email)
SUBJECT: Stop the looting
__________

Dear (Senator or Representative's name),

(Your personal note)

I urge you to reject the $820 billion Omnibus Appropriations bill.

The bill is littered with favors to President Bush's friends, at our expense, including rolling back overtime protections and increasing the caps on media ownership. This is looting, pure and simple.

You just can't govern a nation this way. This isn't a partisan issue. It’s common sense.

Sincerely,

(your name)
(your address)
